The top 3 questions about wrapping
Here are the top 3 questions with sub-questions I get asked about my wraps and my honest answers:
1. Will this actually work for me?
-
Will it stay on my head? - Yes, but depending on your hair type, you may or may not need a head band, bobo, and/or bobby pins to hold it in place.
-
Will it work for my hair type / amount of hair / texture? - My wraps are very versatile and I have had several friends and models with various hair textures, thicknesses, and lengths wear my wraps with no issues. The question will depend on finding a wrap style and pattern you like along with a way to secure it in place if needed.
- Will it feel comfortable for hours? - All of my wraps are made from various types of fabric. Some are thicker and some are thinner. The key is to wear a wrap that you will be comfortable in while taking the temperature/environment into consideration. I would not recommend wearing a thicker wrap in the summer because it would not be comfortable for very long. If you are concerned about the texture of a wrap, you can always wear a bobo under it so the scarf doesn't directly touch your scalp.
-
Will I feel confident and not self-conscious wearing it? - That is a very personal decision that I can not answer for you, but I always recommend starting off with baby steps if you are new to wrapping. You can wear a scarf in your house by your self for a few minutes, an hour, or a day. You can take pictures of yourself wearing a scarf and only show them to trusted loved ones for honest feedback. You can wear a scarf in your car then take it off when you get outside, or wear them for a short trip like to get a coffee. Take baby steps, and remember it's perfectly natural to feel self-conscious at first.

2. What does wearing this say about me?
-
Is this fashion or functional? - Both! My wraps can be worn many different ways, for a variety of purposes.
-
Is this modest, spiritual, bold, artistic, edgy, feminine, counter-cultural? - Depending on why you wrap, the answer can fit into any of these categories.
- Does this align with my values, lifestyle, and aesthetics? - That answer depends on you and why you wrap and how you wear your wrap.
-
3. Why this scarf instead of the 1,000 others?
-
Is this special or just another scarf? - I source all of the fabrics myself. I don't buy any pre-made scarves from a catalogue. I bring all of the fabric to my manufacturer and package and ship every order. When you get a Sorrell Hair Wrap, you are getting a scarf that is seen from start to finish by me.
-
Is it mass-produced or meaningful? - All wraps are made in very small batches because the fabric makes a limited quantity of scarves, which makes each one truly unique and meaningful.
- Is there a scarcity, story, or craftsmanship here? - I wanted to help save last chance and gently used fabrics from going into the landfill. Each Sorrell Hair Wrap is made from these fabrics, creating a story of renewed life and sustainability. Each scarf is only made once and in very limited quantities.
